  • If I cancel a lesson on my part, I will make arrangements with you to reschedule your lesson.
  • If the public schools are off, there will be no lesson.
  • If there is more than one holiday in one month opn your day, we will only take one holiday off. (ex: Monday's in February)
  • I reserve the right to cancel up to two lessons a year without the expectation that your lesson will be made up. (Usually just once during the summer.)

Curriculum

My goal in teaching guitar is to get the student playing full chords as soon as possible. After the first lesson, a student has the building blocks to play an actual song. I stay away from the tedious note reading because it usually discourages the student. I teach chord theory and music theory. I want you to learn music so you have the tools to know how to make up your own chords that you don't know.Sound odd? Give it a try.

I teach very simple rhythm patterns that can fit just about any song that the student wants to play. Again, my goal is for you to be able to play the songs you love and are listening to on your ipod.

If the student would like to study lead guitar, I begin by teaching pentatonic scales, and then move toward major and then minor scales. Once the student is comfortable with this, we begin studying all the individual modes. Then, once a student masters the modes, I will take lessons from you.

Styles

In regard to styles, I am best at rock, country, and folk. I can also teach begining classical, and beginning jazz. I am good at teaching lead guitar and you will see progress in a short amount of time.

If you are a church attender, I specialize in worship leading songs and techniques to teach you how to be a good worship leader. I can also teach you how to work with a worship band and rehearsals.

"Bob is an amazing guitar player and teacher. I can come to him with any song and he's always willing to help me learn it. He taught me everything from reading music, to playing worship, to rocking out. I couldn't ask for a better teacher."

"Bob Hudson has taught all of our children guitar and music techniques over the past 7 years. What I appreciate most about his instruction is the ability he has to mix discipline and encouragement during his sessions with our kids. He teaches them the importance of perseverance in daily practice by pointing out how they have improved even on weeks when practice at home did not happen. He then firmly reminds them how much more they can achieve with practice. He also never fails to give them a music "project" for the week. I love that the kids have never called it homework, they have enough of that from school. My desire for our kids is for them to enjoy music and be able to play to 'recharge' from all the other demands life places on them. Bob has helped them achieve this goal. They really enjoy music!"
